Guide for Your Wedding Invitations

Your invitation is your guests' guide to your wedding, and should include the most important information about the day: the names of the wedding hosts/sponsors (usually your parents), names of the bride and groom, the day of the week, date, time and the address of the ceremony and/or reception. So to help you in your bridal invitations here are the other important elements that you should include.

*Reception cards that provide guests with the time, date and location of the wedding reception.
*Response cards which guests will use to RSVP to your wedding. They simply fill in their name on the card along with how many guests will be attending. The card is then mailed back to you in the enclosed self-addressed, stamped envelope.
*Maps/Directions to both the ceremony and reception sites. Most venues can supply pre-printed direction cards that you can include in your invites. Even if the locales are easy to find, it's still a good idea to provide your guests with this info.

Less Common Enclosures
*Pew Cards for family members or close friends you would like to sit within a certain area for the ceremony. These guests present their pew cards to the ushers who seat them accordingly.
*Rain cards direct guests to an alternate location if an outdoor wedding is derailed by inclement weather.
*Name cards/At-home cards are traditionally mailed out after the wedding, but some couples opt to include them with the invitation. These notify guests of a change of name and/or residence.

Envelopes Accompanying the Invitation Suite
*Response card envelope is self-addressed and stamped so that your guests can mail their RSVP back to you.
*Inner envelope
will house all of your invitation components. Some couples choose to have their guests' names hand-written on the envelope.
*Outer envelope
is where the inner envelope will be placed. Your guests' names and addresses will be written (usually by a calligrapher).
